Before we go any further- I'm baaack! Life, as always, brings its little moments of interruption and with an infant, a four year old, and being 5 months pregnant, you can only imagine the excitement at my house! But after a much needed break and with a newfound sense of inspiration, and a whole lot of new products I've been trying and can't wait to review, new blog posts will be coming your way! In this post, I wanted to share my most often used combos of high end and drugstore makeup that are staples in my everyday makeup routine. From lip products to concealer, these products provide long lasting results with flawless application. NYX Lipliners and MAC Lipsticks: To start, let me say that these two products act and look like they were made by the same company. If you have followed me for any extended length of time and have checked out my , then you know both of these items are in my all-time favorite products list. MAC is famous for their extensive color palette of lipsticks and NYX is hailed as the best affordable makeup brand that feels like its expensive counterparts. NYX also has an array of color options, which makes pairing the two a lip dream combo! Here are some of my favorite combinations: essentials page NYX Hot Red and MAC Russian Red NYX Pale Pink and MAC Blankety NYX Deep Purple and MAC Rebel NYX Dolly Pink and MAC Candy Yum Yum MAC Full Coverage Foundation and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer: This combo has truly become my new favorite to wear when I want a flawless, full coverage makeup application, especially in the udereye area in covering redness and dark circles. I recently worked as the makeup artist in a wedding and I used this combo on the bridesmaids and many commented on how awake and bright their eyes appeared after I used these products on them. The foundation can become heavy on the face, but when applied with a damp beauty blender, it can be sheered out to provide high coverage and avoiding the dreaded "cake face". The Maybelline concealer is seriously a wonder product- easy to use, blends beautifully, and provides great coverage. My preferred method of use is to apply a shade in the MAC foundation to counteract the problem area, whether it be redness, darkness or uneven skin tone, then apply a color that is 1-2 shades lighter than your skin to act as a highlight under the eye. Set with translucent powder and you've got long lasting coverage all day! Lancome Aquatique Waterproof Eye Base in Nude and any drugstore eyeshadow: Now this product here is one of those that do live up to its prestigious brand name. When you hear Lancome you think high end, fancy, and expensive of course! I got my hands on this product on a trip to Costco (check out this blog post I dedicated to its discovery) and paid half of its retail price! The item is available at Sephora for $26, but at Costco I scored it at only $12.99, woohoo!! This base is creamy, sets as a cream to powder finish, and will brighten and add wear length to even the most stubborn drugstore eyeshadows that may not always have the best color payoff on their own. The only downside is that it only comes in one shade, Nude, so those with deeper skin tones may not benefit from using it. This item was truly like find finding a needle in haystack, but I would still be willing to pay the $26 for it. A little goes a long way with this product, so you'll definitely be getting your money's worth! Do you have any of these items in your makeup collection that you might try pairing up? Or do you have some tried and true favorites of your own? Let me know and share the wealth! I hope you come back for more product spotlights and reviews, as well as a special behind the scenes wedding makeup post I'm working on featuring a new youtube video, so stay tuned!
